Have been persistent on advocacy for the county government to improve on Public Participation (PP) in policy formulation and project implementation.

On policy formulation, they have managed to successfully advocate for public participation (PP) to take place at community level and with continued running of PP at this level grassroots concerns are captured which improves on service delivery and Kisumu has now adopted PP policy which is now at the County Assembly.

In addition, Kakamega project implementation is now more sensitive to community involvement in the process of monitoring and evaluation as was once seen when the community through our member organization questioned the quality of infrastructure development at one healthy facility and appropriate action was taken.

The County took up and budgeted for some of the proposals like climate change mitigation and adaptation, a robust policy for public participation, operationalizing the grievance redressed mechanism, and increased budget for inputs after such advocacy to do so was undertaken by LRFSN through one its Vihiga based member.

Between Nov 22 and Jan 2023, the County Governments of Vihiga, Kakamega, and Nandi changed the delivery of public participation (PP) for the third-generation County Integrated Development Plans (CIDPs) by sourcing development priorities from the village to ward levels, proactive sourcing of memos from the citizens, and convening sectorial public participation prior to the main public participation day. This resulting to members of the community owning their development and even following the budget processes for the Annual Development Plan (ADPs)

Between May-July 2023, a member of the LRFSN representing the Kisumu County Development Trust (KCDT), reported that Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) and Ward Administrators in Kisumu County facilitated public participation at the Ward level, during which the county took up issues raised by community members and prioritized them in the Annual Development Plan (ADP). This has been adopted whereby there is presentation up to village level.

Between January and April 2024, Siaya County government in collaboration with local partners and private sector launched 30 tractors intervention to increase food production in all six sub-counties (Gem, Rarieda, Ugenya, Ugunja, Bondo, Alego Usonga) to boost rice, horticulture, and indigenous vegetable production.
