Out of 8 Lake Region Counties have incorporated public participation and climate change mitigation policies into their plans following LRFSN's advocacy work.

    Public Participation

Advocating for and facilitating meaningful community involvement in policy formulation and project implementation. Through our efforts, counties like Kakamega, Kisumu, Siaya, and Nandi have seen significant improvements in public participation, ensuring that the voices of community members are heard and considered in development plans.

This includes the proactive sourcing of development priorities from village to ward levels, which was particularly impactful during the third-generation County Integrated Development Plans (CIDPs) process.

    Social Accountability

We conduct rigorous social accountability processes to monitor government projects aimed at food and nutrition security. By ensuring these projects have a greater social impact and that resources are well-utilized, we enhance the effectiveness and transparency of government initiatives.

    Policy Advocacy

Our advocacy work has led to the inclusion of robust policies for public participation and climate change mitigation in county plans. For example, Vihiga County has adopted policies that budget for climate change adaptation measures and operationalize grievance redress mechanisms, significantly improving community involvement and resource allocation.

Our governance efforts aim to create a framework that not only promotes good governance practices but also ensures that development initiatives are inclusive, transparent, and responsive to the needs of the communities we serve.
