To ensure that every human being enjoys their right to adequate food by addressing structural causes limiting effectiveness among actors and interactions along the food value chain.
We envisage sustainable food systems in the Lake Region Counties of Kenya


To contribute towards sustainable and equitable food system, quality health and wellbeing through partnerships, evidence-based advocacy and good governance in the Lake Region by 2029.

About Lake Region Food Systems Network

We are a network that is duly registered with the Registrar of Societies as a not-for-profit organisation whose objective is to work across the different counties within the Lake Region Economic Block (LREB) with an aim of addressing the Right to Food as spelt out in Article 43 Section 1C of the Constitution of Kenya 2010. Currently our membership covers 14 counties of the Lake Region with 35 Community Based Organizations, within the counties namely: Kisumu, Vihiga, Kakamega, Bungoma, Nandi, Tranzoia, Bomet, Kericho, Nyamira, Kisii, Migori, Homabay, Siaya and Busia.

OUR OBJECTIVES

Raising Awareness of Food Systems
Raise awareness of food systems' centrality to the entire sustainable development agenda, and the urgency of transforming food systems, particularly around the lake region.
Aligning Stakeholders on Food Systems
Align stakeholders within the lake region around a common understanding and narrative of a food system framework as a foundation for concerted action, making food and food systems a more widespread issue for advocacy and action.
Promoting Inclusivity and Innovation
Recognize and advocate for inclusivity and innovation in food systems governance and action within the lake region.
Empowering Stakeholders with Tools and Analysis
Motivate and empower stakeholders around the lake region who support food systems transformation through the development of improved tools, measurement, and analysis
Catalyzing Bold Food Systems Action
Catalyse, accelerate, and enlarge bold action for the transformation of food systems by all communities, including counties, cities/towns, companies, and civil society, citizens, and food producers.
Ensuring Accountability in Food Projects
Undertake Social Accountability processes in government projects aimed at ensuring food and nutrition security to ensure that they have greater social impact and good stewardship of resources allocated to them.
Advocating for WASH, Human Rights, and Climate
Work for positive outcomes in areas that related to the right to food i.e., WASH, Human rights and climate change
