    Our mission at LRFSN is to ensure that every individual enjoys their right to adequate food by addressing structural issues along the food value chain. We are committed to driving transformative changes in food systems through:

    Sustainable Food Production

    Promoting agricultural practices that enhance food production and sustainability. For instance, in Siaya County, we supported the launch of 30 tractors to boost the production of rice, horticulture, and indigenous vegetables across six sub-counties. This initiative is a testament to our commitment to increasing food production through innovative and sustainable methods.

    Food Governance

    We advocate for policies that ensure food security, safety, and sustainability. This includes influencing planning and budgeting processes to prioritize agricultural production and related services. Our work has led to the integration of food systems considerations into county development plans, ensuring a holistic approach to food security.

    Community Engagement

    Encouraging community ownership of food systems is at the heart of our initiatives. By facilitating public participation and ensuring that grassroots concerns are included in policy and project implementation, we empower communities to take an active role in their own development. This approach has led to significant achievements, such as the successful advocacy for public participation policies in Kisumu and Kakamega counties.

    By aligning stakeholders around a common understanding of a food system framework, we aim to catalyze bold actions that transform food systems, contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals, and ensure that every community member has access to adequate and nutritious food.
